Short biography
Abbas M.K.AL-Rjoub is a Palestinian-Portuguese researcher, born in 1985 in Palestine. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics/mathematics from the university of Birzeit- Palestine in 2007. He did his first master’s degree in applied mathematics at the same university. In 2012, he completed another master’s in physics at the University of Sussex – UK. In 2019, he received his PhD degree in physics (MAP-fis, joint doctoral programme in Physics of Universidade do Minho, Universidade de Aveiro and Universidade do Porto). In 2019-2022, he worked as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Coimbra, CEMMPRE - Centre for Mechanical Engineering Materials and Processes. In 2023, he got a one-year research position at Polytechnique Montréal-Physics Engineering - Montreal, Canada. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Mobility GT (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)): Surfaces and interfaces for sustainable green mobility, which is a joint program between the Laboratory for Tribology and Interface Nanotechnology (TINT) of the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), University of Leeds (UK), Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) and University of Coimbra (Portugal). His research focuses on Optics of Thin Films, Magnetron Sputtering, Thin Film Deposition, Annealing, Oxidation Resistance, Wear Resistance, Corrosion, Nanotechnology, Nanoparticles, Nanomaterials, Simulation, Material Characterization, Hard coatings, Dry Machining, Surface Engineering and Tribology, Friction, Self-lubricant Coating, Selective Coatings for Solar Thermal Absorptance, and Thermal Barrier Coating systems. His H-index is 12 and he published more than 30 articles in international journals. Also, he participated in many international conferences.
