dr. Marko Soderžnik
Short biography
Marko Soderžnik graduated at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Ljubljana in 2009 under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Janvit Golob. His diploma thesis entitled “Microencapsulation technology of insecticides” was awarded for contribution to the sustainable development of the Republic of Slovenia. Afterwards, he enrolled as a young researcher at the doctoral study of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies at the International Postgraduate School Jožef Stefan in Ljubljana, and got employment at the Department for Nanostructured Materials in Jožef Stefan Institute. Under the supervision of Dr. Paul McGuiness, he successfully defended doctoral thesis "The development of an optimum core-shell microstructure for high-coercivity Nd-Fe-B magnets with minimum heavy-rare-earth content” in 2013. Two years later, he was nominated by the Japanese Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) for a one-year postdoctoral education in Japan (National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba), where he was studying magnetic domains. In 2020 he became a research fellow at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the Laboratory for Tribology and Interface Nanotechnology.
