Short biography

Petra Jan was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1994. After graduating high school in 2013 she enrolled in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana and completed her B.Sc. in 2017 with a thesis titled The Effect of Temperature on Shear Stress Limit of Linear Theory of Viscoelasticity of polyetherimide (PEI), under the guidance of prof. Igor Emri. She continued with her studies in the joint European Master's programme in Tribology of Surfaces and Interfaces (TRIBOS), organised by 4 universities: University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Technical University of Lulea (Sweden), University of Leeds (UK) and University of Coimbra (Portugal). She finished her M.Sc. in 2019 at Technical University of Lulea with a master's thesis titled Thermochemical characterisation of newly developed UHMWPE nanocomposites, under the supervision of prof. Nazanin Emami. After completing her M.Sc. she was employed by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Ljubljana as a researcher and is currently working on a PhD in the field of real contact area determination under the supervision of prof. Mitjan Kalin.
